About Tokyo Diner
Tokyo Diner has been making its mark on London’s West End for nearly 30 years, serving Japanese favourites to our many returning regulars and happy first timers.
We usually employ about forty (mainly young, Japanese) men and women.
Most of them are only in London for 1-2 years.
Apart from our Accounts Manager, all our staff speak Japanese.
We pride ourselves on our authenticity and on the welfare, harmony and fulfillment of our staff. Your job will be to help us achieve these broad aims through your day-to-day activities.
Requirements for this position
Please apply for this job if you are a Japanese and English speaker and:
you can read, speak and understand Japanese and English to an appropriate level to communicate with our staff and suppliers; ※
you can assist the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the business;
you have a workplace-appropriate level of computer, social media and online literacy skills;
you are responsible and able to work unsupervised;
you can work varying shifts;
you have high standards of professionalism and integrity;
you respect Japanese culture.
We expect you to work 5 days (about 40 hours) per week, but we can be reasonably flexible as to which days.
※ There is an online assessment of your Japanese and English language skills as part of the application process.
Your Main Responsibilities
Communicating and liaising with suppliers of goods and services, e.g. butchers; refrigeration engineers; etc
Assisting the front-of-house
Maintaining general safety and food safety records
Maintaining social media accounts
Supporting the smooth running of the office, e.g. assisting personnel administration; assisting payroll administration; etc
Enrolling new members of staff
Organising affordable social events and outings for the staff

This is a full-time position. If the traineeship is successful, you will be able to progress to a more senior position.
